Its funny how you're quite comfortable with your life until you realise what you've been missing for a long time...when the memory of how it felt to have it all stares you in the face teasingly...and how even stranger it feels when you realise that the memory didn't visit you through the years and decided to just now. And then you think of all the people because of whom you didn't realise what you were missing...or you wonder why it took you so long to fathom the depth of some small things that are always taken for granted... and you don't know whether to be thankful or reproachful. Maybe its all about time... maybe its all about the level of understanding...its all about how much things can change in a few months.
We had a family reunion. Now you could go ahead and think its a whole big family of 124 members who came from all over the universe. :) Nope... just 4 of us. My immediate family. My father, my mother and my brother. And the past month...has been a festival at home. That should explain the first paragraph that you'd have given your raised eyebrows to a while back! :) But hell... sometimes you have such big realisations, revelations that they could choke you to tears.
Thus...i dedicate this post to 4 people. First... to the best man in my world - my father ( all those of you who were expecting johnny depp there, too bad!;-)). I don't know why sometimes things hit you harder...its taken me 7 years to realise the love, the concern and the protection i've been missing, with that tinge of hidden pride he has for his kids :) Next ofcourse to the best woman i know - my mother. Lets not even start on how much importance she holds in the life we run here... her absence sometimes is very dearly felt. And then... to the second best man in my world - My brother. For a million things i cant even list out...even for that expression on his face when am giving him a head massage! God bless :)
Now the 4th... its to all those people who've been there when neither of the above were there...even though they are in a way, omnipresent... there's nothing like presence :) So the list would have to start with my grandparents...and then all those friends...who i spent hours on the phone and online with, laughing, gossiping, holding small talk with...
There was once when my mother told me when we were chatting online that her kids are always with her...that every morning when she's praying, she calls us by our names and makes us sit with her infront of God.... and her kids have such small palms...they're so tiny...her daughter is dressed in a frock...and they all sit, and pray together. I dont think anything she ever said before that in the 20 years of my life ever affected me so much. I guess those are our Godly parents...
Whacky stuff to wrap it off... i think Neo sports has some illegal connection with the football club Manchester city. Whenever i watch the channel, they have a Man.City match in which it wins! That to against liverpool and ManU! How unfair is that? ;-)

suk - yeah i know these superstitions flop. Stil, we don stop having them. Even i was wearing a beck t-shirt on that day! Anyway, germany's a good team... and comin to ac milan. When it comes to clubs... i've been a manU fan, period. From kenya. But back then, u were either a manU supporter, or arsenal. Things r diff now... ManU's been playin well despite losing who we thot were its best...i love them for that. Now we know they have better than wat we thot were its best, but seeing them not perform when they need to is so disheartening! I never knew milan has so many azzuris...esp pirlo! Love him! He has class... and for the first time, i hated gattuso on th field. Used to love him in italy cuz he's such a bull!!! He charges directly, he plays well, he plays rough, he fouls, he's dirty, he pushes n pulls n gets away with it. Yest, seeing him mark C.Ronaldo...God it was so so sad. And rooney and giggs seemed non-existent. Defence was weak...and it rained! Soccer in the rain! The match was milan's. They deserved it. But the last goal by gilardino was too much, it shouldn have happened! And they had good defence. I guess that is only expected from an italian team. Anyway, like u said, liverpool manU wud have been interesting... i've not made up my mind if am supportin milan or liverpool. Its pirlo vs gerrard!

yeah very true. I remember even until recently, it was Man U or arsenal and then it was liverpool and then it was either real madrid or Barca.. No one used to support teams like Bayern Munich and all much.
It just proves that Man U is a real "team" unlike others like real madrid. *ppft*But seeing any good team and team that you support not perform well is heartening.

suk - Bayern Munich actually have some decent players... i saw one of their matches on Neo sports (which was surprisingly not against manchester city!). Podolski, schweinsteiger and some other german players. I rmbr Nisterooy was s'posed to go there...but then he went to madrid, n made glory for himself!You dono who gattuso is cuz u never supported italy...and am sure they'll assign him to gerrard ;-) Like in this semifinal match, am sure they assigned him to Christiano! The poor fellow was always marked by 2 people, one of them being gattuso. And then gattuso wud foul him, and they'd get a free kick, but beckham was not around to convert them to goals. Sadness! But gattuso did eventually get a yellow card. I din know abt pirlo...but now i know :D He's baggio's descendant! yes kahn! Ah you know it seems that in the 2002 WC he left those 2 goals only in the finals. And he looked so sad after they lost, he was captain and all and they went till the finals and they lost! cha.

You have such a valid question there... why do i like Baggio? correction, the world cup was in 1994. I was seven years old. At that time, baggio had a pony tail, he was called the divine pony tail. The goalie at that time was among our faves, his name was pagliuca, but he was nicknamed the magic cat. How do i remember all this? I dont know. Its just all in there. Why do i like baggio when he missed the most crucial penalty? Italy wouldn have gotten to the finals if he wasn in the team. He led them to the finals, and then made it an anticlimax. But italy got out of their jinx of losing in any penalty shoot outs only last year... till then, they lost every match that ended in penalties (almost). So last year, italy was destined to lift that cup :)I like him because that world cup was my first realisation of football...of team spirit...of loss. I love del piero till today because he was also in that match. There was another baggio called Dino Baggio...there was Maldini who retired after 2002 WC (he had green eyes!!!. Its so weid to even think that i was only 7 years old...and i rmbr a football match so well! how?! It was kind of planted into me...alot of people in kenya love the italian team. I knowww! yaaay! Even though I support liverpool more than Man U,Man U will is my second so better Man U than Chelsea!!! So let's celebrate! And Liverpool have their shot at the UEFA cup so that's compensation!Running after a lot of silverware lol! hey have they gone out of the race for the FA cup, now that they've gone out of UEFA and they've got EPL so only FA cup left. ManU'll have to work hard to grab the FA cup, considering chelsea played well even with their main players (including drogba) missing. Shevchenko is not playin the finals. Real might have won a record n all...i guess the more they started buyin world class players, the worse they got! But i hear cannavaro has been playing very well there. Main players were missing for Man U or Chelsea or both? I'll tell you my latest superstition- Every team I support loses. In the WC- Argentina lost against Germany, France against Italy, England against Portugal, Man U against AC Milan, ok there are alot of instances where this hasn't happened and I just hope FA Cup and UEFA Cup would be such instances.
